We're looking for an experienced Systems or DevOps Engineer to join us in this newly created role in the Cloud Adoption & Reliability Engineering (CARE) team. Our small team is responsible to deliver a Kubernetes as a Service (K8SaaS) self-service platform that is part of the new Switch Cloud

, called Switch Cloud Kubernetes

(SCK), while also enabling our colleagues and customers to embrace the cloud native world.

Kubernetes Engineer - Switch Cloud (80-100% - all identities and backgrounds)

Your main responsibilities will be

  • Operating and continuously developing our K8SaaS platform.
  • Providing end-user support for the platform.
  • Integrating our platform with other systems and platforms.
  • Coordination with our internal and external stakeholders.
  • Additional tasks include
  • Collaborating with and coach team members and other Switchies.
  • Working with product management, sales, and other stakeholders to improve and promote our K8SaaS platform.
  • Consulting for our customers with regards to Kubernetes and related technologies, building upon Switch Cloud.

  • Technical expertise:
  • Experience with all of the following: Linux, CLI, Containers, Kubernetes, Helm, Git, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD principles, automation, monitoring, logging and alerting.
  • A solid understanding of cloud-native technologies and open-source ecosystems.
  • Fluency in English.

  • Kubernetes ecosystem: KubeOne, Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform or any other Kubernetes distributions; Cluster API; Cilium or any other CNI; any ingress controllers; Cert Manager; Velero or Kopia; Flux, ArgoCD or any other GitOps tools; Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Alertmanager or any other monitoring / logging tools; Kyverno or any other policy engines; Trivy, Trivy Operator, Falco or any other security tools; any additional CNCF projects.
  • Cloud platforms and practices: OpenStack; Hyperscalers or other public clouds; Terraform or Open Tofu; Ansible.
  • Identity and Access Management: SAML 2.0 or OIDC; Dex or Keycloak.
  • Collaborative Tools: GitLab, GitHub, Jira, Confluence.
  • CKA, CKAD, CKS or other relevant certifications (including expired).
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages.
  • Agile methodologies and the 12 agile principles.
  • We have customers in all language regions of Switzerland, thus fluency in German, French or Italian is highly beneficial. Both Switch and our community have staff who hail from all over the world, so any additional language will come handy.
