Academic Writing and Systematic Searching Tutor

50% position starting 1 October 2024 or by agreement until the end of 2025 with the intention to prolong the contract.

Academic Writing
and Systematic Searching Tutor

Tasks

  • Teaching existing courses to students and academic staff within the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science on the following topics:
    o Planning, preparing, writing, and submitting publications; analyzing target journals and meeting their requirements; and writing effective grant applications
    o Planning and conducting basic and advanced literature searches, with a focus on systematic searching in medicine and life sciences
  • Promoting our academic writing and systematic searching courses
  • Developing new courses in collaboration with senior writing and searching tutors
  • Maintaining and extending online teaching and self-study materials

Requirements

  • PhD or research experience in Life Sciences or Natural Sciences
  • Author or co-author of peer-reviewed journal articles
  • Experience with publication process
  • Experience as a scientific editor preferred
  • Experience writing research grant proposals preferred
  • Experience and extensive knowledge in literature searching
  • Knowledge in conducting a systematic literature search, ideally as (co-)author of a systematic review
  • A clear understanding of student and researcher needs and ability to adapt and align services to meet these needs
  • Teaching experience
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and independently
  • Commitment and flexibility
  • Excellent communication skills, using a client-oriented approach
  • Native English speaker preferred
  • German language skills preferred
  • Video editing skills preferred
