This works well in the company
Good working atmosphere with beautiful working locations directly on the lake in Rapperswil or in the high-rise building in St. Gallen right next to the main train station.
This could be improved
If you come from the private sector, the administrative effort for e.g. expense claims is more time-consuming.

My supervisor has a lot of trust in me and allows me flexibility and room to maneuver. The (working) atmosphere in our team is accordingly excellent. I cannot judge other teams or departments. There are changes, especially due to the merger, but they hardly affect us (or me) on a day-to-day basis.
This could be improved
Some of the processes following the merger are not yet well established. Some processes are sometimes overstructured. There is room for improvement in communication, but I think it has improved in recent months.

This works well in the company
Thanks to the unshakable belief of the individual employees in "it will get better", islands of cooperation are tried to be preserved and the joy of working in collegial cooperation is tried to be maintained. There are many great employees at the OST.
This could be improved
Since the merger, many processes have been complicated, while at the same time important positions in admin and/or staff have been inadequately refilled. The idiosyncrasies of each department are lumped together - even though the market environment is diametrically opposed in engineering versus health. Staff morale is low because OST has learned nothing from the merger processes of the other universities. Researchers become leaders without having a clue about leadership and management, let alone communication. The inflationary adjustment of 1.4% was celebrated as a "wage increase" by the highest chief of staff, expert opinions (and we have many of them, we are a university and train future specialists!) are neither asked nor valued.

This works well in the company
Very bad mood among the employees, very many layoffs, since vacancies can no longer be filled, the workload increases or work is outsourced, whereby know-how is lost
This could be improved
Enable wage increases, raise wage levels, value employees and their achievements, take employees' concerns seriously

At the OST, a very familiar relationship is the norm. Great importance is attached to communicating at eye level.
This could be improved
Digitisation in the areas could be improved. However, this is already in focus.
