Join the SOPHiA GENETICS' Genomic Research team as a Lab Technician. Initially on a 1 year contract, this role has scope for extension or a permanent outcome.
As an NGS Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our next-generation sequencing (NGS) activities by performing various laboratory tasks and procedures. This position offers a great opportunity for growth and professional development in the field of genomic research.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting sample preparation for NGS experiments, including DNA and RNA extraction, quantification, and quality control.
- Performing NGS library preparation, including DNA fragmentation, adapter ligation, and PCR amplification.
- Operating and maintaining NGS instruments, such as sequencers and sequencer robots.
- Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
- Collaborating with other team members to optimize and troubleshoot experimental protocols.
- Ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and quality control standards.
Requirements
- BA, MSc or PhD degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry etc)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a molecular biology laboratory setting, preferably with NGS Techniques
- Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment, such as pipettes, centrifuges, and thermal cyclers.
- Familiarity with NGS library preparation protocols and sequencing technologies.
