Introduction
UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility.
Presentation
Prof. Julia Santiago is looking for a Postdoctoral researcher to join her research group at the Department of Plant Molecular Biology (DBMV) at the University of Lausanne.
Job information
We are an ERC Consolidator and FSNF grant-funded lab with a key interest in plant cell wall development and plant signaling cascades. We are interested in understanding how plants sense chemical and mechanical changes in the cell wall, and how they integrate this information inside the cell to regulate growth, shape and protection. The group combines structural biology (X-ray protein crystallography) and quantitative biochemistry with genetics and cell biology in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. We are offering a dynamic and dedicated research environment with state-of-the art facilities for structural biology, biochemistry,(eukaryotic expression platform, biophysical instrumentation and access to a crystallization facility), plant genetics and cell biology. Our research is focused on cell signaling and cell wall remodeling events essential to plant growth and development. Our lab is located at the University of Lausanne at the Dorigny Campus, by the lake Geneva, in Lausanne. This position is mostly research oriented. It is also associated to teaching duties of under graduate biology and Master students.
Expected starting date: 01.01.2025 / to be agreed
Contract length: 1 year, option to renew.
Activity: 100%
Workplace: Lausanne-Dorigny campus
Your qualifications
You are a recent (less than 2 year) PhD graduate in plant biology with a keen interest in plant signal mechanisms and cell wall remodeling events. You have a good working knowledge of plant genetics, cell biology, molecular biology and plant biochemistry and an interest in learning new methods and skills. You are fluent in English (both written and oral) and you have demonstrated your scientific abilities by at least one 1st author publication in a peer-reviewed general or specific plant journal. We are seeking a creative, self-motivated team-player that will integrate with the other plant biologists and biochemist in the group. Suitable candidates will be encouraged to apply for fellowships.
What the position offers you
We offer a nice working place in a multicultural, diverse and dynamic academic environment. Opportunities for professional training, a lot of activities and other benefits to discover.
