Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences
Starting date: Upon mutual agreement, as soon as possible.
The position is fully funded for 2 years.
The Mühlemann laboratory at the University of Bern, Switzerland, which is associated with the Swiss national research center for RNA & Disease, has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow. The position is fully funded for 2 years by a collaborative research grant from the NOMIS Foundation shared with the Blencowe, Allain, Zenklusen, and Novacek labs.



Postdoc position to investigate composition and function of human hnRNP complexes

Tasks

  • purifying protein complexes from cells
  • engineering cell lines by genome editing
  • conducting proteomics and transcriptomics analyses
  • participating in the collaborative quest of elucidating the structure and functions of a recently re-discovered hnRNP complex termed the ribonucleosome in human cells (see: Domanski et al., NAR 2022)

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a PhD in molecular biology or biochemistry and a sound practical and theoretical background in RNA biology.
  • You are an experienced, highly skilled biochemist
  • You are an ambitious, intrinsically motivated researcher used to working and thinking independently
  • You have strong social skills, like to work in a team and support junior scientists
