The unit Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of gas-insulated switchgear. We ensure the high reliability of our products by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Project Engineer to join our high voltage gas-insulated switchgear engineering team. This role involves supporting project planning, design, and implementation activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical or mechanical engineering, a keen interest in high voltage technology, and a desire to grow within the industry.

Your responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of customer projects and work together with lead engineers during different project phases

• Support the design of gas-insulated switchgear systems, including single-line diagrams and layout drawings

• Prepare and maintain project documentation in line with the applicable standards and customer specifications

• Handle various supporting tasks within the engineering department, for example support in the creation of internal documentation and engineering guidelines

• Process special material orders from R&D according to the defined process

• Contribute to continuous learning and improvement through analyzing quality issues and supporting the implementation of improvements

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolve technical issues to ensure project success

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Switzerland and India, for example engineering, project management, sales, supply chain management or production

• Occasional travel to customer meetings or site visits

Your background

• Technical qualification in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering

• At least two years of experience in high-voltage switchgear engineering is highly desirable

• Proficiency with 2D and 3D design software (for example Creo, AutoCAD)

• Experience with Microsoft Office and SAP

• Independent, structured, and collaborative way of working with a strong ability to work in an international team environment

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Fluency in German and English, other languages would be a plus

• Good communication skills for participating in technical discussions, both internally and externally with customers and suppliers
