Web3 Foundation’s SecOps team, which consists of SREs, developers and security engineers, is responsible for designing, implementing, operating and maintaining security systems and services, defining baselines and best practices across the foundation and the Web3 ecosystem. We are looking for an outstanding Senior Systems Engineer to join our SecOps team and work closely with internal and external partners to achieve these goals.
We are a lean team with a flat organisation. Due to the nature of this position, we are only considering candidates who are able and willing to work from our office in Zug, Switzerland
Responsibilities
- Support internal chain operations team with advice on technical aspects of running and maintaining proof-of-stake validators: Security, virtualization technologies, etc
- Profile / benchmark / optimize hardware, OS etc. configs for validators
- Develop / extend tools for validator metrics aggregation, alerting, and visualization, including the following aspects:
- Performance
- Network topology
- Decentralization and diversification
- Readiness for major run-time / protocol upgrades
- Operate and maintain highly-available validators on-prem
- Actively follow technical and chain-governance developments affecting the Polkadot network, and liaise with technical stakeholders in the community
- Improve and extend documentation around validator security and operation, including policies, standards, and community guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years experience as a systems engineer
- Advanced Linux skills including networking, virtualization and containerization - general affinity to open source
- Hands-on experience and solid understanding of security engineering concepts and applied cryptography
- Ability to digest API documentation and write integrations/glue code in scripting languages such as Python
- Experience with production environments, including high-availability, automation, orchestration, and incident response best practice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English
A plus
- Hands-on experience with running proof-of-stake validators, ideally in the Polkadot ecosystem
- Experience with data analytics (indexed and onchain data)
