Job Description Summary
The NDE Engineering position focuses on the development, implementation, and qualification of non-destructive testing methods / procedures for the GE Vernova Gas Power business as well as other GE Vernova businesses as needed. This position supports Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, and HRSG product lines through projects assigned by manager and mentored by experienced senior level engineers. Projects include inspection development programs, specification creation and revision to address product quality, failure and field analysis of customer hardware to assess failure modes, and participation in materials development programs related to new product offerings or corrective actions to address customer issues.
Job Description
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Working closely with NDE engineers in the group to develop, improve, or clarify NDE processes and procedures.
- Interfacing with Design Engineering to specify the correct NDE techniques and limits to meet the needs of the components.
- Qualification of NDT techniques at suppliers and in-house as needed. Support training activities as needed to accomplish qualification activities.
- Interpretation of NDE results and disposition of materials based on inspection findings.
- Maintain an active role in developing and defining the state-of-the-art NDE test methods to apply them to new turbine, steam turbine, heat exchanger, and generator designs in the future.
In addition to the above essential functions, the candidate should possess the credentials and skills to perform the role of a Materials Applications Engineer (MAE). As an MAE, the person will handle material related issues. Essential job functions for this role include:
- Demonstrate and apply understanding of the material processing factors which affect NDE inspectability and how processing defects contribute to NDE indications.
- Materials influence on NDE technique selection.
- Process development/ improvement to reduce defects or improve inspectability.
- Processing deviation requests.
- Authoring specifications and procedures, reviewing drawings.
- Failure analysis / Forensic engineering to determine root cause of failure using NDE, fractographic, and metallographic techniques to investigate environmental, material, and material processing contributions to failure.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials or Non Destructive Testing, OR a high school diploma/ GED with 9 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years combined experience in NDE/ engineering field.
- Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.
Desired Characteristics:
- Centrally certified (ASNT or equivalent) Level III in at least one NDT Method.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business.
- Problem analysis and resolution skills.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $98,400.00 - 164,000.00 USD Annual.
The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
