Role description
The Head of Banking Services is a key role responsible for leading and managing all banking and financial service functions within the organization. This includes the oversight of issuing services, merchant accounting and the development and integration of embedded financial services within the banking services domain. The role requires a deep understanding of payment processing, automated accounting, compliance, and technology-driven financial solutions. The ideal candidate will be strategic, innovative, and able to drive growth through efficient service delivery and strong partnerships.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership

- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the Banking Services domain, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Lead the expansion of issuing and merchant banking services, including payment processing solutions for various platforms.
Issuing Services Management:

- Oversee the lifecycle of card issuance and management, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and customer needs.
- Drive the development of innovative card products and services to enhance customer experience and loyalty.
Merchant Accounting Services:

- Lead the integration and automation of merchant accounting services, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of transactions.
- Implement automated accounting solutions that simplify bookkeeping for merchants, integrating with various ERP and accounting tools.
Embedded Financial Services:

- Spearhead the development and integration of embedded financial services within the payment processing framework, such as marketplaces, merchant lending, subscription models, recurring billing and any other added value services
- Ensure seamless omnichannel payment experiences for customers across different platforms, including e-commerce, in-app, and point-of-sale (POS) environments.
Technology and Innovation:

- Leverage advanced cloud technology to improve payment processing, enhance security, and reduce operational costs.
- Collaborate with Sales and IT teams to ensure the continuous improvement and customization of payment solutions.
Compliance and Risk Management:

- Ensure that all banking services comply with local and international regulations, including PCI-DSS, PSD II and future standards.
- Develop and maintain risk management strategies to safeguard the organization’s financial services against fraud and other security threats.
Team Leadership and Development:

- Build, mentor, and lead the domain, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear objectives and performance metrics for the domain, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in banking, payment processing, or financial services, with a focus on issuing and merchant services.
- Proven track record in managing and scaling financial service operations, including automated accounting and embedded financial services.
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements in the financial services industry, particularly PCI-DSS standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- Fluent in English, German would be an advantage, French would be nice to have.
