University Digestive Health Care Center - Clarunis, Basel, Switzerland is the joint competence centre of Claraspital and Basel University Hospital for all patients in need of abdominal treatment. Clarunis combines the specialist knowledge, research activities and number of patients treated of both hospitals to further increase and enhance the quality of diagnosis and treatment.

The Digital Surgery Lab ( https://digitalsurgerylab.ch') ), based at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Basel aims to revolutionize surgery and improve patient outcomes through digitalization and application of Artificial Intelligence.

To foster the project Data-Driven Surgery and coordinate the Surgical AI platform on behalf of the Department of Surgery at University Hospital Basel, we are hiring a Data Scientist (80-100%).



Your position

  • Translational teamwork with clinicians, computer scientists, and biomedical engineers
  • Manage the development of a data platform (Surgical AI platform) with external suppliers
  • Establish pipelines for data capturing, storing and archiving
  • Analysis of surgical datasets (image, video, audio, text) using deep learning

Your profile

  • PhD in computer science or biomedical engineering
  • Project management skills and experience
  • A strong background in network architecture and machine/deep learning
  • Proficient in python programming and familiar with deep learning libraries (PyTorch, Tensorflow)
