The opportunity
We are currently looking for a diligent and highly motivated Research Associate to join our Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (CVM) department. In this role, you will design and execute in-vivo experiments in rodents to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic candidates for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like:

Collaboratively design and execute in-vivo studies, and interpret data from in-vivo experiments to assess the pharmacodynamics and therapeutic efficacy of novel compounds.

Establish, validate and use disease relevant rodent models (e.g. obesity and diabetes) to support various drug discovery projects.

Diligently follow national and international animal welfare laws, and align with the company's commitment to the 3Rs (Replace, Reduce, Refine).

Continuously improve test systems, analysis, and data evaluation. Contribute to work process optimization including data capture, storage and assay automation.

Work closely with all members of the group, share duties, maintain a clean work environment and actively contribute to the positive work atmosphere within the group.

We are looking for the following qualifications:

MSc/BSc in Life Sciences or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate (“Lehrabschluss”) with at least 3 years of academic or industry experience working with in vivo models.

Mouse work experience required; managing animal cohorts, injections via various routes, behavioral assays, mouse monitoring, tissue sampling and processing.

Experience in rodent models of obesity: Glucose tolerance test (GTT), body composition (echoMRI), whole-body metabolism (CLAMS/Promethion), blood pressure (tail cuff system)

You communicate effectively in English, both in writing and orally. Skillfully able to interact with people and have strong commitment to teamwork.

Excellent data management and record-keeping skills are required.
