Job summary:
As Regional Associate Director Sales, you will be accountable for the budgeted sales performance of the region, by overseeing the regional sales activities and managing the regional sales team. You will design and implement the regional go-to-market strategy closely with your regional and global marketing and Advisory colleagues. You will lead, develop, and inspire our multifaceted and passionate regional teams to deliver growing market share and strong value to all our clients and to advance the climate agenda with impact and pride in a dynamic working environment.
The main focus of this role is to proactively and independently expand South Pole's certificate and advisory business by growing South Pole's client base in your region.
The role offers attractive financial recognition in a dynamic micro and macro environment, allowing to perform in line with regional and individual business development targets, always striving to become a strategic and trusted supplier for the mutual benefit of climate impact in combination with revenue extension.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Be commercially responsible for the budgeted sales targets in your region (certificates revenue and GP targets; advisory business development revenue targets), directly reporting into the Global Head of Sales
- Together with the Regional Head of Advisory, and aligning with the Global Sales guidance, and the marketing team, develop and implement the regional sales strategy and activities in order to grow South Poles market share by winning new strategic clients and retaining the regional Key Clients.
- Manage the regional sales team by holding direct and indirect reports, providing commercial guidance and support to the sales team in the region, and sharing experience and knowledge across teams and regions
- Encourage your team to closely collaborate with our prospects and clients to assist them with their climate transition roadmap. Understand their needs and align them with the offerings of South Pole's climate journey. This will help in nurturing client relationships and increasing the variety and quantity of solutions sold.
- Implement guidance and direction coming from the Global Sales team in your region and be the coordination partner between regional and global exchange
- Bring the voice of the customer from extensive market interactions and provide structured customer feedback to inform the global management.
- Identify market trends, client needs, and new business opportunities and provide market insights and critical inputs to the Regional head of Advisory, the Certificates and Global Sales Team.
- Represent South Pole in regional client meetings, at conferences, trade shows, and other commercial occasions.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and reports to management, keep a clean salesforce record, and assure the regional team provides timely and accurate updates to our key systems.
- Stay on top of climate trends and develop in-depth knowledge of competitors, clients, and market dynamics to demonstrate better the superiority of our services in terms of quality and credibility attributes and benefits for our clients.
Requirements:
Essential -
- University degree in Economics, Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, Business Development, and Environmental management or similar (ideally a Master’s degree or above)
- Senior commercial or business development leader with at least 10 years of relevant experience of which at least 5 years in a people management capacity
- Working experience in sustainability, or at least strong understanding of the most important drivers for corporate climate action
- Sound knowledge of at least one of the following fields: carbon markets, renewable energy, corporate responsibility, sustainable development or climate change
- Strong business acumen and proven track record in relationship building and negotiation with clients, and relevant business associations
- Experience in strategy development, execution, management, and budget setting
- Outstanding leadership skills, with the ability to inspire action and get the best out of people
- Proven track record of managing cross-functional, high-performing, and diverse teams and achieving strong results through them
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to build relationships and partner effectively with both clients as well as internal stakeholders
Desirable -
- Experience in scaling up a fast-growing team in the context of a highly competitive market environment
- Experience in the Tech industry
- Spanish, or Portuguese are a plus
