The Software Development Engineer II is part of the EG Federation, API Authentication/Authorization and Session Management team, which is a vital part of IAM (Identity Access Management) organization for Expedia Group. This team specializes in identity federation and session management. We design, build, innovate, and maintain scalable authentication and authorization solutions that integrate seamlessly with external partners. Our core responsibilities include developing robust single-sign on and identity federation capabilities, as well as managing user and API sessions that power critical traveler-facing features. We leverage industry-standard protocols like OAuth 2.0, Open ID Connect, and SAML to deliver secure and seamless experiences.
This role is responsible for developing scalable, well tested, highly resilient code to support high bandwidth traffic (thousands of requests per second) without compromising on availability and latency.
In this role, you will:

Develop quality scalable, tested and reliable applications and microservices using industry standard practices.

Deliver tested and optimized code for a distributed microservice environment

Participate in resolution and root cause analysis of production issues and lead efforts toward solutions

Own continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) while applying Agile methodologies

Develop a sensible service layer that will allow for in-session personalization based of user behavior and data

Scale public APIs to allow other partners to use our services & experiences on third party sites.
Experience and qualifications:
-
Bachelor's or Masters degree in a Technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.

2 + years of software development experience with Java/Kotlin, J2EE, Spring Boot, and relational or NoSQL databases

Proficient in web services development, web and/or application containers, microservices architecture
-
Capability to understand the design and architecture of complex system components.

Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).

Experience working in an Agile environment and collaborating across multiple teams.

Passion for gaining and sharing knowledge.
The total cash range for this position in Austin is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
