Job Description
Based in Geneva, as part of a global team, your role as Responsible Sourcing Adviser will include the following main duties:
Due Diligence (75%)
- Work with the Human Rights Manager to further strengthen Vitol’s ESG (health, safety, human and labour rights, environment) Due Diligence (DD) processes for metals and energy supply chains, to mitigate risk and prepare for future regulation
- Undertake KYC on counterparties, working closely with the Vitol compliance team
- Roll out risk-based measures to monitor activities with higher potential salient risk profiles in the context of the Vitol Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) results
- Keep abreast of relevant DD laws globally and develop pragmatic solutions for their implementation
- Undertake on-the-ground ESG (health, safety, human and labour rights, environment) DD assessments
Analysis & Reporting (20%)
- Conduct analysis of Human Rights and Environmental DD: benchmarking, interpreting results
- Follow-up grievance/human rights data submitted to Vitol
- Provide information and ensure DD process in place meets regulatory reporting obligations
- Contribute to executive reporting
Ad hoc support (5%)
- Contribute to other ESG-related projects & initiatives
Qualifications
- Degree (or higher) in relevant subject, e.g., Law, Human rights, Public policy, Sustainability, Finance, Economics, Science
- 6+ years’ experience in a similar role in a mining, energy or commodity trading firm
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to prioritise and find pragmatic solutions
- Analytical mindset, quantitative, excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills, with superb attention to detail
- Entrepreneurial drive, ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to convey complex concepts in simple terms
- Full proficiency communicating in English in a business context (verbally and in writing)
- Travel internationally
Additional Information
