Job Description
OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
As a Platform Architect focusing on Telemetry, Monitoring, and Observability at Takeda, you will:

Be recognized within IT and Takeda as an expert in telemetry, monitoring, and observability for cloud platform design and development.

Enable application owners/product teams to effectively utilize telemetry and monitoring tools for their cloud application workloads.

Develop and adopt solution architectures that optimize telemetry, monitoring, and observability practices in alignment with Takeda’s architecture principles, best practices, and business needs.

Contribute to Takeda’s cloud strategy by developing policies, standards, guidelines, and reference materials specifically focused on telemetry and monitoring.

Lead the continuous improvement of telemetry and observability capabilities, including governance, service models, and operational practices.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

Be the go-to person for infrastructure architectural design related to telemetry, monitoring, and observability within cloud platform solutions.

Innovate and experiment with new telemetry and monitoring services by designing and implementing Proof of Concepts (POCs).
-
Develop comprehensive telemetry and monitoring strategy roadmaps that align with the company’s goals and future needs.

Define and drive solution architectures that ensure scalability, reliability, and security in telemetry and monitoring.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams to foster a culture of innovation and excellence in observability practices.

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and business units, to understand their requirements and incorporate them into telemetry and monitoring architecture standards.

Establish and enforce best practices in telemetry, monitoring, and observability design, implementation, and governance.

Report on the state and direction of Takeda’s telemetry, monitoring, and observability environments periodically.

Lead the integration of optimized telemetry and monitoring environments, ensuring performance and cost management.

Design and enable telemetry, monitoring, and observability environments using leading APM/AIOPS solutions (such as Splunk, AppDynamics, ThousandEyes, ServiceNow).

Utilize cloud-native monitoring services and integrate them with enterprise telemetry tools like Splunk
EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
-
6+ years of experience designing and enabling telemetry, monitoring, and observability environments using leading APM/AIOPS solutions (Splunk, AppDynamics, ThousandEyes, ServiceNow desired).
-
5+ years of experience spanning multiple IT disciplines including technical architecture, networking, DevOps, middleware, database management, or operations.
-
5+ years of experience with hybrid cloud environments.
-
2+ years of hands-on experience with infrastructure automation (Infrastructure as Code, configuration management).
-
Working knowledge of DevOps CI/CD technologies and lifecycle.
-
Demonstrated experience with IT service management integrations.
-
Strong knowledge of hybrid cloud security principles and best practices.
-
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex projects.
-
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
-
Experience as a team lead is strongly preferred.
-
Ability to drive continuous improvement and experience working with change management or internal communications teams.
-
Experience working with virtual/Agile teams in different locations, aligning and adapting different work, culture, and communication styles.
-
Experience with designing and development of pharmaceutical life science products.
Relevant AWS certifications (AWS Certified Architect) are desired.
Experience working in a life sciences environment and/or familiarity with Takeda is desired.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
133,000.00 - 209,000.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
