About the Role:
- Data Analysis & Insights: Extract, explore, and analyze multi-dimensional datasets to provide actionable insights for internal stakeholders, including the newsroom, product, sales, and strategy teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Hold regular discussions with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements and ensure analyses meet their needs.
- Ownership of Analytics Process: Own the end-to-end analytics process for at least one functional unit, guiding data stewards on proper data usage.
- KPI & Metrics Management: Recommend, track, and report on KPIs, OKRs, and other metrics used by leaders of functional units.
- Dashboard Development: Develop, build, and maintain dashboards (Tableau or Power BI) and ensure their proper usage.
- Data Governance: Work closely with the data governance lead to monitor data usage and flag any incorrect or inappropriate usage.
- Project Management: Estimate, prioritize, and communicate deliverables within the team and with stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the data engineering team to identify relevant datasets, data flow, and data formats.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct periodic quality checks to ensure data accuracy.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of data usage within the company.
- Team Support & Mentorship: Assist team members when needed and mentor junior analysts.
- Explorative & Analytical: Boldly explore data, question assumptions, and work well within a team.
- Statistical Expertise: Possess excellent statistical training and be skilled at applying statistics to business problems.
- Interest in Media: While interest in world events and media is preferred, it is not a requirement if you demonstrate a willingness and capacity to learn.
- Self-Starter: Curious and proactive in exploring large volumes of data and working across the organization.
- Insightful: Capable of identifying, assessing, and reviewing data to proactively present strategic insights.
- Data Analysis Experience: Proven experience in data analysis across various fields, including web analytics, customer analysis, and product performance metrics.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of statistical methods and tools (Alteryx, Python, Machine Learning, Predictive Analysis).
- Innovative Thinking: Provide innovative analysis ideas and present concise, actionable insights to senior management.
- Problem Solver: Efficiently analyze new requirements, build processes, and deliver timely solutions.
- Team Player: Energetic, eager to learn, communicative, and collaborative.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for spotting data irregularities and performing ongoing data sanity checks.
About you:
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis, building dashboards, and extracting actionable insights for senior management.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik View, Power BI), Intermediate/Advanced SQL queries, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Big Data or Data Warehousing tools, preferably Snowflake.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Science with hands-on programming in Python.
- Experience in Regression, Classification, Text Mining, Text Classification, Forecasting, and Clustering.
- Excellent communication skills and a team player attitude.
- Ability to conceptualize and build interactive dashboards.
- Flexibility to meet changing business priorities.
- Knowledge of news and current affairs; familiarity with financial news is an added advantage.
- Ability to quickly assimilate new information.
