Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing various entry level tasks and collecting tax audit-ready supporting documentation (under supervision) for the timely and accurate filing of NAM legal entities’ federal and state income tax provisions and tax returns, informational tax reporting, and tax clean-up projects. The position will also work with our business partners and external tax service providers.
Job Responsibilities
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Federal and state income tax account analysis and reconciliations.
- Tax accrual analysis and workpapers.
- Book-to-tax difference roll-forward and balance sheet validation workpapers.
- Assist in the U.S. federal and state income tax provision process.
- Assist in federal and state income tax compliance, tax return filings, and coordination with external tax service provider.
- Major book-tax difference calculation data collection and supporting audit-ready document collection and validation.
- 1099 and 1042 tax-relevant data collection and informational tax reporting.
- Converting SAP and BW data into Excel tax supporting workpapers.
- Federal and state income tax calendars, tax notices, and tax penalties & interest tracker maintenance and monitoring progress with service providers and taxing authorities.
- Mail processing where applicable (notices/checks/general correspondence/tax returns)
- Prepare tax forms with supervision.
- Accumulate tax control evidence and confirm controls were executed based on control steps.
- Tax process improvements and automation.
- Tracker maintenance for all scanned mail.
- Annual report filings (coordination with CSC) and review CSC invoices.
- Manage US federal, state, and local income tax payments, including B&O gross receipts and commercial activity tax payments.
- Manage Canadian income tax payments.
- Cash income tax forecast and estimates.
- Historical tax data collection from various sources, tax data clean-up, and set up tax calculation templates.
- Vendors master tax related data clean-up and SAP date clean-up. Charitable contribution deduction data collection, validation, and IRS audit-ready tax supporting workpapers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Professional proficiency in English.
- 4-Year college bachelor’s degree required.
- US and Canada tax experience preferred.
- Experience in Excel.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Highly motivated and detailed oriented.
- Ability to work independently under given direction.
- Able to self-manage competing priorities and keep projects moving according to timeliness.
- Communicate effectively.
- Work effectively with co-workers and other groups in the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP hands-on knowledge a plus but not required.
- Ability to suggest creative solutions to problem solving is preferred but not required.
