SWI swissinfo.ch closely follows and reports on topics of international relevance from Switzerland. These range from politics and Swiss foreign affairs to the negotiations taking place in International Geneva. We are seeking a freelance editor to work with our journalists covering these topics, as well as others on occasion.

As an English-language content editor, you will help journalists shape their stories and ensure that the final edit aligns with SWI swissinfo.ch's international orientation and editorial strategy.

Concretely, this means discussing and honing the story angle with journalists throughout the research and writing process and editing the final version for clarity, accuracy and flow.

This job is being offered on a freelance, hourly-rate basis. Estimated time per week is between 10 and 15 hours.

• You have at least 5 years professional experience editing for international media
• You have experience working across all beats and topics
• You have a good understanding of all editorial formats
• Experience editing multimedia content (i.e. video scripts)
• You are a skilled collaborator and communicator
• You are available to support journalists throughout the work week when they have stories ready to be discussed / edited.
• You are a native English speaker. Full proficiency in another SWI language is an asset.
• We have a preference for editors with knowledge on Switzerland
