The Mirjam Schenk Research Group, part of the Christine Kühne – Center for Allergy Research and Education (CK-CARE) research consortium at the Medicine Campus Davos, Switzerland, is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to explore the immune mechanisms underlying atopic dermatitis (AD) and other allergic diseases. The successful candidate will employ cutting-edge techniques in immunoproteomics, spatial biology, and single-cell sequencing to explore the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying these inflammatory disorders. The research will integrate omics data with clinical insights to advance therapeutic strategies for inflammatory diseases. As a PhD student, you will receive advanced training in both fundamental and translational immunology, with a focus on utilizing high-dimensional data integration to investigate immune regulation. The position offers the chance to present findings at scientific meetings and publish in high-impact journals. The PhD candidate will be admitted to the Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Bern ( www.gcb.unibe.ch') ).
Requirements
Your Profile
- A master’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or Bioinformatics, with a strong focus on Immunology, Allergology, or Dermatology
- A demonstrated interest in research with a translational focus bridging basic science and clinical applications
- Proficiency in R programming and experience with standard bioinformatics tools and statistical analysis
- Practical experience in working with human samples and sample processing techniques (experience with mouse work is a plus)
- A keen interest or experience in integrating multi-omics data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) with clinical datasets
- Strong collaborative and communication skills with an ability to work effectively in a team-oriented research environment
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is required
