Job Description
About the role:
The Head of Data Sourcing and Acquisition is a global and strategic position directly accountable for the enablement and delivery of enterprise level Data Sourcing, Procurement Governance and Data Marketplace services at Takeda. Join Takeda as a Head of Data Sourcing and Acquisition where you will access across all levels of the organization with the ability to shape and decision making across the entire data value chain - driving direct business value and experiences for our patients. As part of the Enterprise data and analytics, you will report to the Head of Enterprise Management and Innovation.
Partnering with legal, compliance, and BU/F data acquisition teams, you will establish clear operating models for decision-making and risk management related to data and internalization activities. Additionally, you will lead efforts to comprehend, store, and disseminate business and quality rules provided by data suppliers and strategize “search before procure”. Collaborating with learning and development teams, you will assess and upskill members of the organization on data sources, use cases, and technologies. Your role also involves evolving vendor glossaries and other online materials to improve accessibility and usability for business users.
How you will contribute:
- Own the global data souring, procurement governance and data marketplace process and deliver the global data procurement governance process, audits & compliance and monitoring capabilities and strategy.
- Chair the Data Procurement Steering committee linking business and IT leaders to a common enterprise process, its strategy and program delivery. Periodically provide an update to Global Data Council (GDC) and Digital Portfolio Council (DPC).
- Head or support BU/F initiatives linked to global and enterprise-wide Data acquisitions, external data purchase and vendor negotiations/management.
- Heads data products internalization opportunities with partnership with Business, Data & Technology and Vendor team
- Proactively identifies and solves the most complex data acquisitions and data management problems, including data product internalization and scale that impact the management and directions of the business and decision affect the success of the programs and business.
- Own and work closely with federated data sourcing team to comprehend, capture, store, and keep up to date with the latest versions of technical, business, quality rules applied by data suppliers prior. Ensure these requirements and specifications are clearly and timely communicated to the Data sourcing and preparation team.
- Influence Takeda leadership and external partners in the roadmap for data acquisitions and marketplace and digital disruption and innovation driving business value.
- Develop KPI’s and SLA’s confirming that the Takeda Data Catalog and Data Services model is available, communicated, understood and utilized effectively in pursuit of business objectives and strategic vision.
- Develop an advisory component to promote awareness of industry best practices by foster discussions, creating seminars, attending councils, and overall be the primary communications member of the team.
- Build and develop the ‘A-Team’ for data sourcing, procurement governance and data products internalization.

- Extensive External Data (Syndicate and Primary Market) and RWD (Real World Data) Domain knowledge within pharmaceuticals or related areas
- Track records in managing complex supplier and/or customer relationships.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related or directly relevant field
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience with External Data/ Real World Data (RWD) example: IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony, Specialty pharma
- Recognized as a thought leader within external data and RWD area globally with ability to solve the most complex business problems.
- Has led broad and comprehensive data acquisitions, procurement and governance leading edge procurement and data product internalization process improvement program with focus on enabling value to business stakeholders.
- Proven track record of leading and driving business process transformation and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverables.
- Ability to set priorities, deliver on deadlines and develop workflow processes and tasks in an evolving, dynamic marketplace.
- Strong analytical skills and budget management.
- Previous organizational change management experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and skills necessary to lead through change and influence without authority.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$205,100.00 - $322,300.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives.
