360 Labs Initiative at a Glance
The 360 Labs are a new capability that is currently being built up within the Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED ). The primary mission of this effort is to provide greater access and support for the use of cutting-edge biomedical research technologies by scientists across our discovery portfolio.
The 360 Labs will deliver core scientific technologies, expertise and enabling activities, as well as facilitate knowledge sharing in close collaboration with our therapeutic areas and functions. The Opportunity
The Histopathology Technology Platform in the 360 Labs Initiative is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated and collaborative histopathology technologist to provide focused histology services and enable user on-boarding and support for the platform's open lab. The successful candidate will have a robust background in the histological preparation of mammalian tissues and will work as a part of a matrix team, collaborate closely with experts from each of our therapeutic disease areas and functions to advance early drug discovery and participate in the early implementation and growth of the Histopathology Platform within the pRED organization.
Your Role and Responsibilities

Execute end-to-end workflows for tissue specimens, including processing, embedding, sectioning, staining (including immunohistochemistry (IHC), in situ hybridization (ISH) and immunofluorescence (IF)) and digital pathology techniques such as whole slide scanning;

Perform quality control, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting across a range of histology lab instruments to ensure high-quality data production;

Provide training and support in the use of histology equipment, and collaborate with laboratory scientists to optimize tissue-based assays in early drug discovery research projects;

You embrace a continuous learning mindset by actively engaging with the scientific literature to stay up to date on new technologies/approaches used in the histopathology space.
Who you are
-
You hold a university degree in the life sciences or are a Laboratory Technologist with at least 3 years of histology laboratory experience;

You have exceptional skills in the histological preparation of mammalian tissues, including hands-on experience in fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniques, along with an in-depth knowledge of the operation and maintenance of histological laboratory equipment, and a solid understanding of regulations for assay documentation to ensure high-quality data generation;

You are a skilled experimentalist with a keen attention to detail along with robust manual dexterity and precision handling of delicate samples, such as cryopreserved nervous-system tissues, to ensure accurate and reproducible tissue preparation (e.g. cryosectioning, sectioning of in vitro samples such as organoids).
