We are searching for a communications professional who will oversee the NAA communications requirements, leading both communications strategy and operations.
To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to show a proven track record in communications and stakeholder engagement – internally and externally – communication strategy development, strong project management of deliverables across work-streams and delivery with coordination across teams. The candidate will have excellent writing skills, experience in traditional and social media communications, work with digital tools, and be creative and innovative. Discretion and diplomacy are vital as the candidate will be dealing with senior stakeholders in this role.
Reporting lines and interactions
This role sits within the NAA team, part of the Centre for Nature and Climate at the Forum office in Geneva, Switzerland.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Nature Action Agenda.
Within the Forum, the candidate will work closely with colleagues in the NAA team, the broader Centre for Nature and Climate and Global Communications Group. Beyond the Forum, the candidate will work with other partners around key report launches and events, including business, multilateral organizations and NGOs.
Main responsibilities
Communications planning

Refine, and execute a cohesive communications strategy for NAA for next two-years including updated messaging on nature’s relevance to business and economic actors.

Develop and execute an annual content delivery plan to ensure partners are kept abreast of NAA’s activities and progress.

Where relevant, work with external communications agencies to deliver on specific communications products

Working closely with workstream leads, prepare and maintain key marketing materials and web-pages

Baseline and demonstrate communication progress through outcome focused metrics and data through regular evaluation reports.

Keep abreast of the latest communication trends as well as emerging trends relating to the breadth of topics on nature and biodiversity, informing NAA’s impact communication strategy accordingly.
Media engagement and events support

Help manage relevant communications on events for World Economic Forum meetings, as well as key external events

Develop and coordinate content (key messages, speeches, blogs, articles, media releases and business updates) in line with the Forum’s Global Communications strategy, and other communications tools to promote the efforts of NAA to its members, funders and other relevant stakeholders.

Coordinate with the Forum Global Communications Group and Marketing teams to leverage digital opportunities.

Respond to media enquiries and support the team in preparing for media interviews where relevant.

Preferred requirements and experience
-
Degree in communication, marketing and media engagement, strategy or equivalent, with broad intellectual background.

Experience and interest in environmental sustainability. Specific experience in biodiversity issues would be an asset.

5 to 7years of relevant professional experience, working with different industries to build global campaigns and communications.

Experience working in private sector (especially consulting) preferred.

Ability to work with C-suite business leaders and leading issue experts in academia, international organizations, governments and NGOs, as well as with representatives from grassroots organizations.

Experience with public relations agencies, media consultants and working with communications professionals is a strong advantage.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with an understanding of stakeholder needs. A committed, collaborative, positive and solution-oriented team player.

Proficient in MS Office; experience with digital platforms and tools would be an asset.

Strong editorial judgement, writing and editing skills.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in other languages desirable.
