We are looking for a Market Risk Manager to expand our Market & Quantitative Risk team.
As the ideal candidate, you are smart, take ownership of topics and drive them forward, and proactively engage with the business, both to challenge and support.
We are quite open on the level of seniority and experiences you have and can adapt the position both towards junior and senior profiles.
We offer a very diverse range of topics to work on: The team covers all Alpiq's expanding activities in the commodity markets from asset trading, origination, prop trading over weather derivatives, batteries, PPAs, highly structured deals, and algorithms.
As we develop and maintain in-house risk models, a good part of the infrastructure in the back end and various user-facing products, development experience in Python, and experience and interest in generally more technical aspects would be highly beneficial.

Your main responsibilities
- Close interaction with Trading to understand exposures, risks, activities, and needs; foster the collaboration with the business.
- Risk assessment and simulation of proposed transactions. Understanding risks of new products and structures, formulating requirements
- Identify needs to change processes and to adapt to changing markets and portfolios
- Risk reporting and supervision of limits
- Assessments of market liquidity, model calibrations, and valuation adjustments.
- Advancing our risk controls, models, and reporting.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., science, mathematics, economics, finance)
- Relevant prior experience (Power & Gas markets, Trading, Risk Management)—as stated, we are flexible on the seniority.
- Good understanding of power markets, valuation, risk measures, option theory, and stochastics.
- Strong programming skills (Python) and a general technical aptitude
- Motivated team player and able to work in a cross-locational setup.
- Fluency in English
