Job Description
OBJECTIVES :
The Global Category Manager: Clinical Supplies & Comparators (Clinical Development Services Procurement) at the Associate Director level, plans and leads category projects for a clearly defined sub-category or a group of elementary sub-categories with a total spend value of less than USD200m and develops sub-category strategies for these market facing spend categories as part of the wider Category Strategy. The Global Category Manager (GCM) manages a proportion of the overall category savings target and leads category projects, spanning sourcing projects, demand management and process re-engineering, as well as managing sub-category specific supplier performance and progress activities to help achieve the global procurement targets.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:

You will report to the R&D Procurement Global Category Lead-Clinical Development Services at the Senior Director level; and, collaborate with the R&D Procurement, Clinical Development Services Procurement Team. You will provide financial and business analysis (e.g., Data mining of Procurement and Financial Systems, output analysis and interpretation), supporting global market intelligence in the category area and being the focal point for category expertise to the global business and procurement community.

You will have experience leading the procurement, sourcing, outsourcing, purchasing or buying of clinical supplier categories. You will be assigned to support Takeda’s Global Clinical Supply Chain “GCSC” and lead clinical supplier categories, including but not limited to: Packaging and Labeling, Logistics and Distribution Services, Specialty Courier, Direct to Patient Shipments, Ancillary Supplies, Storage Services, Comparators, Named Patient Population and Compassionate Use.

You will support Global Procurement Leadership in the development of formalized Category Management organization structures and category management methods and works with procurement and partners on a global basis to ensure these are implemented. The GCM will ensure appropriate Supplier Relationship Management efforts are implemented; the objective of which is to ensure performance delivery, continuous improvement and access to innovation from supplier arrangements to achieve value contribution targets on a global basis.

Apply rigorous Category Management tools, systems and techniques, the GCM will provide benefits (operational and financial) following the agreed business goals. Also you will take personal ownership of complex arrangements and provide expertise for other supply and commercial arrangements.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Required:

Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree minimum
-
Minimum of 11 years of experience and 5+ years in-depth strategic and operational procurement experience with a solid working knowledge of category management and ICH E6 R2 Good Clinical Practice “GCP” and/or ICH Q7 Good Manufacturing Practice “GMP”

5+ years overall business experience, including working within a regulated industry

Manage project teams to create material value across multiple categories

Direct experience managing category management projects and development of sourcing strategies

Change management and process improvement skills with direct experience delivering business process
Desired:

Post graduate business-related qualification

Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Biotechnology, CRO or GMP supplier experience is preferred

Experience with enterprise systems (SAP, Oracle) and Procurement / procure-to-pay tools such as (e.g., Ariba, Emptoris, SAP) is preferred
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Any Professional Purchasing (e.g., Institute for Supply Management “ISM”, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply “CIPS”), Project Management, or Finance related licenses or certifications would be considered advantageous
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Global travel up to 10%; High flexibility and willingness to travel (air and ground both domestic and internationally) for various meetings at Takeda and Supplier sites.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$149,100.00 - $234,300.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
