The Systems Engineering Lead Engineer at GE's Civil Computing Systems team is responsible for the development and management of technical objectives for multiple aircraft platforms.
This role primarily focuses on developing Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) experience to support the team's efforts.
This is an Onsite-3 days a week opportunity (with a fun group of colleagues) in Grand Rapids, MI (preferred location) or Clearwater, FL!
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
Lead, guide, and contribute to systems engineering efforts across GE’s Common Core Platform programs.
Develop architecture models and allocate requirements to sub-systems/hardware/software components.
Generate system functional requirements based on stakeholder expectations.
Validate and verify system requirements, troubleshoot integration/verification issues.
Coordinate with Technical Lead(s) and peers to generate and execute projects/design plans.
Manage and coordinate issues, problem reports, and change requests to closure.
Interact with customer engineering organizations to define and shape requirements for future platforms and systems.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams within the product line.
Ensure timely delivery of systems requirements, integrated validation/verification activities, and issue resolution.
Lead interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, test, safety, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams.
Escalate issues requiring additional engineering or business leadership assistance.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
At least 5 years of experience in design & development or technical project leadership within an engineering product development environment.
Systems Engineering Process Background (ARP 4754A or similar).
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Desired Characteristics:
Experience managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A or B.
Familiarity with DO-297, DO-178, DO-254, and/or DO-330 process assurance.
Experience with A653 partition-based operating system.
Familiarity with computing, networking, or data concentrator systems.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to track and report performance to cost and schedule.
