One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we’re on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.
What you'll do
London is our International Business Headquarters, and your role will report to the Group tax manager located in the UK.
The Assistant Tax Manager role will play a key part in ensuring that we comply with UK tax laws and file returns on a timely basis both for our UK entities and certain indirect tax filings relating to the Commercial Air business. The Assistant Tax Manager will also support the quarter end process for both our US GAAP and IFRS filings, as well as the preparation of tax disclosures for our statutory accounts.
You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of people both within the tax department and the wider commercial organization. Moreover, you will get exposure to tax advisory work too.
The day-to-day
You will support different groups within Viasat on tax filings, supporting the accounting team with statutory accounts and commercial air business. You will be challenged with gathering and interpreting data, particularly given the very complex nature of the satellite business. There will also be elements where you will develop methods of analyzing and interpreting data, and this may involve collaboratively working with other groups within Viasat to evaluate alternative approaches and methodologies.
You will be part of our Global Tax Team and can expect to be working with colleagues in Europe, the US, Canada and elsewhere on a regular basis.
What you'll need
-
At least 4 years of experience in a Tax role with significant exposure to UK corporation tax and cross-border tax matters.
- A tax focused professional qualification (e.g. ACA and/or CTA) is a must.
- Proven experience of tax accounting and tax compliance matters, together with experience of providing tax advice on a range of topics, in a Big 4 or international enterprise environment.
- Experience of working with multinational groups including UK groups with overseas subsidiaries.
- Exposure to VAT and other indirect tax matters would be advantageous but not essential.
What will help you on the job
- A passion for accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time, and to multi-task as needed.
- The confidence to interact with stakeholders at all levels within the organization.
- Being able to ask the right questions to make sure that we have all the necessary information to make appropriate tax decisions, and to be able to analyze new data including working with external partners where necessary.
- Due to the global nature of the business, you will need to be able to have some flexibility in your working hours to accommodate occasional meetings with people in other time zones.
