Job Description Summary
The Project Manager (m/f/d) is responsible for the overall execution of a new units project to Customer satisfaction, responsible for project delivery, profit & loss accountability through management of project related activities and resources. He/She is accountable from the signing of
the contract to the finalization of all of GE's contractual obligations.
Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Turnkey Self-Implement (TKSI), Turnkey with Partner (TKP) or EPC projects. Responsible for overseeing the project and direct or indirect leadership and/or management of project resources.
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
- Act as first or secondary point of contact for customer contact
- Is accountable for EHS of the project within the contractual obligations
- Supports the development of execution strategy with sales commercial manager and ensure successful transition of the project from sales to execution.
- Develops and manages the risk register with mitigation action
- Drives timely elevation of issues through Daily Management
- Continuous Risk & Opportunities register maintenance and mitigation actions
- Understands and drives and keeps accountable the project team to own main performance target i.e. Rev, CM, cash
- Aligns the project team when conflicting requirements arise (cost vs schedule, cost vs risk...)
Required Qualifications

- Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time, if not based near the power plant in Baden-Württemberg

Financial Acumen

- Knows how to manage cost on NCR disposition by challenging & optimizing labor cost, services and parts estimates.
- Understands and challenges Estimates at completion (EAC) and Cost to come CTC for all cost bucket (e.g. Logistics, engineering, C&C).
Operational Effectiveness
- Recognizes the need to escalate issues on time to management.
- Achieves consistency in process performance through adherence to standard work. Manages project execution plan with SQDC lens, in that order.
- Uses daily management framework for problem solving. Provides framework for self and others to engage at Gemba.
- Leads on-the-spot improvements and ensures that the project team focus on value addition.
Contract Management
- Fully understands the contract (incl. scope, quality, schedule, codes, legal & regulatory environment) and enforces it with customer, partner and subcontractor to protect GE's entitlements.
- Has the ability to successfully negotiate change orders, vendor recoveries and claims.
- Has the ability to clarify benefits and potential problems to the customer in order to successfully negotiate change orders.
Opportunities & Risk Management
- Is able to implement risk measures for items identified in ITO handover and that arise during execution.
- Proactively manages the project risk & opportunity list to attain win-win outcomes for GE, its customers, and partners, if applicable.
Schedule Management
- Understands schedule, critical path and potential schedule risks and is able to manage timely delivery of customer obligations.
Project Integration
- Understands plant engineering technical design (equipment, civil, structural, piping, electrical, controls), the evolution of data and the integration of plant engineering, performance engineering and 3rd party engineering.
- Has a strong understanding of all disciplines' processes (Engineering, Sourcing, Construction, Commissioning, etc.) and is able to translate them into execution.
EHS Leadership
- Promotes and imposes GE’s Safety Toolkit and overall EHS standards on project team, partner and subcontractor.
