Street Child Switzerland is an ambitious and dynamic international development charity dedicated to empowering some of the world's most vulnerable children. We have reached over 500,000 children across 20 countries, providing them with access to quality education and supporting their families through livelihood programs. Our holistic approach ensures that children can not only attend school but also thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
Internship Opportunity
We are currently seeking a full-time (33 hours/week) Swiss intern to join our team in the Barcelona office for a preferred duration of 6 months, although shorter durations can be discussed. At Street Child, we embrace diversity and are open to crafting tasks based on the personal qualities and skills of each intern.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Swiss intern, you will be part of a small team led by the Street Child EU Development Manager, reporting directly to the Swiss Country Manager.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
60% of your time
1. Fundraising Research:
- Identify new funding prospects, including trusts, foundations, and major donors in Switzerland.
- Contact potential donors and build relationships.
- Research and analyze the Swiss fundraising landscape to identify untapped opportunities.
2. Foundations Proposal Writing:
- Write compelling funding proposals for trusts and foundations using your knowledge of Street Child's previous, current, and upcoming projects.
- Collaborate with the program team to gather relevant information and data for proposals.
- Ensure proposals align with the priorities and guidelines of Swiss donors.
40% of your time
3. Communications:
- Manage social media platforms and update the website.
- Promote local and international events, the international volunteering program, and email campaigns.
- Translate content between English, German, and French to reach a wider audience.
- Support the planning and development of new events to engage the Swiss community.
4. Business Development:
- Build and manage collaborations and partnerships with other organizations and companies in Switzerland.
- Identify potential synergies and opportunities for joint initiatives.
- Represent Street Child at relevant events and conferences.
5. Administrative Tasks:
- Support day-to-day office operations.
- Assist with minute-taking during meetings and other administrative duties.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the Barcelona office.
Requirements
- Self-motivated, proactive, and innovative with the ability to work independently.
- Strong interest in the non-profit sector and Street Child's mission to empower vulnerable children through education.
- Willingness to be flexible, have fun, and enjoy working with a team.
- Background in international relations, human rights, development, economics, or marketing.
- Excellent communication skills in German or French and professional-level English.
- Document translation skills and experience in content creation.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of the fundraising landscape in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as well as existing channels, is a plus.
