The position is based within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) coverage team.
The Coverage teams offer a global coverage approach focused on dialogue with clients. Building on long-term relationships based on trust, we promote to clients the whole range of services offered by all the Societe Generale business lines, with a particular focus on investment banking, commercial banking and global markets activities. We also promote our ESG approach and push positive impact finance solutions.
The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) was created to better serve a key clientele (banks, insurance companies asset managers, etc...) with specific needs by gathering relevant intelligence and using our technical expertise.
You will be part of a client-driven coverage organisation to work closely with Bankers and Analysts in the Financial Institutions department as well as with all the salespeople involved in our business relationships with Swiss Financial Institutions.
Your missions can be summarised as follows:
- Provide the best level of services and support to our strategic clients alongside bankers
- Help to expand the FIG client base and grow global revenue potential at group level
- Develop an expertise on Financial Institutions in order to provide the team with market and client-specific research (Banks, Insurance, Asset Managers)
- Operational efficiency: participate in the design and the implementation of transversal processes to optimise the coverage model and to align the SG group strategy on FI clients
- Provide the management with profitability reports and business opportunities
The new joiner will work in a stimulating environment. The coverage team acts as a liaising function between Societe Generale business lines (Global Markets, Commercial Banking, Investment Banking) and Support Teams (Risk, Compliance, KYC).
You will be asked to:
- Perform economic analyses on key clients as well as on prospects
- Conduct industry research
- Prepare notes and marketing material to use in client meetings, covering topics such as: financing alternatives, capital markets activity, treasury services, global markets products...
- Conduct internal reviews and follow-up action plans on some clients based on business needs: analyse business potential and participate in interviews with salespeople to identify new opportunities
- Monitor market trends and track client performance
- Understand the impact of new regulation, market evolution on Financial Institutions clients and SG offer (Basel III, Solvency II, EMIR and MIFID)

Profile requiredPLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:
- Graduate with a Master’s degree from a Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Finance or any other relevant field (Economics, Management, etc…)
- A previous experience in the banking industry would be appreciated
Language skills:
- Mandatory: Fluent in English and French (verbal and written)
- Additional: German is a plus
Technical, operational & soft skills:
- Interest in finance and in the banking sector
- Academic knowledge in corporate finance and financial markets products
- Knowledge of the European financial environment (market participants, economic trends, markets evolution...) is a plus
- Microsoft Office literacy
- Autonomy
- Attention to details
- Ability to work simultaneously on multiple tasks
- Extreme discretion regarding confidential and sensitive information
- Ready to learn and curious
- Excellent communication skills
- Proactive and enthusiastic
- Able to work with multiple people across various geographies
- Good analytical and interpretation skills
The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Zürich is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months.
In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.
