Position Overview
The Head of Business Operations for the Implantology Business Unit (IBU) will play a central role in driving strategic clarity, operational excellence, and cross-functional execution. This role serves as the engine room, ensuring that strategic initiatives are translated into impactful outcomes through effective planning, process optimization, and team empowerment. The ideal candidate brings a balance of analytical rigor, operational leadership, and people development to fuel the IBU’s continued growth globally.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Execution & Business Planning:
- Lead the operationalization of the IBU’s global strategy through effective planning cycles and initiative management.
- Partner with senior IBU leaders to prioritize objectives, define KPIs, and ensure accountability across teams.
- Translate complex strategies into actionable workstreams that deliver tangible business outcomes.
Operational Effectiveness & Process Leadership:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across business processes and support functions.
- Champion Lean and Agile practices to boost execution speed, quality, and scalability.
- Standardize operational tools, reporting frameworks, and performance management processes.
Team & Capability Development:
- Lead and grow a high-performing Business Operations team, including Analysts and Project Coordinators.
- Cultivate a collaborative, feedback-driven, and results-oriented team culture.
- Actively mentor team members to build strategic, analytical, and leadership capabilities.
Cross-Functional Integration & Communication:
- Act as the connective tissue across the IBU and broader organization, fostering strong cross-functional alignment.
- Represent Business Operations in leadership forums, ensuring cohesion across Commercial, Marketing, R&D, Finance, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare strategic communications, executive briefings, and operational updates to support decision making.
Market Intelligence & Business Analysis:
- Oversee the generation of insights through market, competitor, and performance analysis.
- Guide scenario planning and risk/opportunity assessment to inform executive decisions.
- Lead efforts to identify new growth levers and support business model innovation.
Leadership & Culture Building:
- Embody and promote Straumann Group’s high-performance culture and values.
- Drive engagement and empowerment through inclusive leadership and transparent communication.
- Foster a mindset of accountability, agility, and customer-centricity across the team and unit.
Ideal candidate would bring
- Master’s degree in Business Economics, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in business operations, strategic project management, or consulting
- Experience working in or with global healthcare/medical device companies is a strong plus
- Proven success leading high-impact teams and driving large-scale initiatives in matrixed environments
- Deep understanding of business analytics, strategic planning, and operational governance
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Fluency in English; other languages (e.g., German) are an advantage
