Livelihoods Technical Advisor (100%), Ukraine
Caritas Switzerland is one of the leading Swiss NGOs in the field of poverty reduction in Switzerland and abroad. International Cooperation programmes focus on humanitarian aid, income generation, climate change and migration. Within the Ukraine Programme, Caritas Switzerland works through local implementing partners, taking the locally-led action approach in its response, and focus on bringing technical value-added specifically in the fields of economic development and livelihoods for this position in addition to supporting partners in financial controlling and compliance standards.
Your duties
- Provide technical expertise in livelihoods programming and support project management
- Support the design and implementation of livelihoods activities, including vocational training, small business support, and employment linkages
- In collaboration with the Senior Income and Livelihoods Advisor, based in Lucerne, align livelihoods activities with systemic approaches
- Line manage technical staffs, heading up programme quality team
- Facilitate partnerships with key stakeholders, including private sector actors, financial service providers, vocational training institutions, and local government agencies.
- Support the Programme Manager and Remarket Project Manager to oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring of project activities and on relationship management with partners and donors.
- Support the Country Director and the Strategiser in Lucerne in the development of the livelihoods component of the Ukraine Programme Strategy, including annual work plans, budgets, and logframes
- Represent Caritas Switzerland in relevant livelihoods external engagement with stakeholders and with coordination bodies
- Conduct training, mentoring and learning materials for project staff and partners on livelihoods programming, including enterprise development and employability skills
Our requirements
- The role requires an understanding of systemic approaches to economic recovery, private sector engagement, and sustainable livelihoods development.
- Advanced degree in Economics, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in livelihoods programming, with in-depth understanding or experience in Market Systems Development (MSD)
- Proven track record in private sector engagement, economic recovery, or enterprise development in humanitarian or post-conflict settings.
- Strong project management skills, including experience in overseeing budgets, work plans, and reporting.
- Experience in training and capacity building of partners and staff.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an asset
- Work experience in Ukraine is an asset.
Your place of work will be Kyiv, Ukraine - with regular trips to other locations within the Ukraine.
