Presentation
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Stephan Kellenberger at the Department of biomedical Sciences (DSB) of the University of Lausanne. The activities of our laboratory aim at understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms of the function of the neuronal "acid-sensing ion channels"(ASICs). We have previously shown that deletion of ASIC1a results in changed voluntary activity and body temperature (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37591947/ ). We recently started a follow-up project investigating the mechanisms underlying this regulation. This follow-up study shows interesting results and will be continued by the newly hired postdoctoral collaborator.

Your responsibilities
She/he will work with wild type and ASIC1a-/- mice and analyze signaling and expression of genes and proteins and carry out behavioral studies. Since the position is limited to 1 year, the person hired must be operational from the beginning of this period and must therefore already possess the authorization to conduct animal experiments in Switzerland.
Your qualifications
We are looking for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher. Applicants need to have a PhD in life sciences or a related domain. They must have relevant experience with mouse studies, brain tissue dissection, expression analysis, molecular biology and biochemistry. They must have passed the Module 1 class (theoretical and practical) on animal experimentation in Switzerland. They should have a strong background in metabolism and the analysis of signaling pathways.
