The Director of Global Compounding Procurement will lead efforts to optimize procurement operations for our global compounding business. The primary focus of this role is the procurement of finished drug products, particularly high-cost biologics and oncology drugs, with a total annual purchasing responsibility of approximately $800M USD.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of driving cost efficiencies through strategic sourcing and negotiation with large pharmaceutical companies and distributors. This is an opportunity to design and execute a global procurement strategy, leveraging our global purchasing power to secure significant cost savings. The Director will manage a global team located in UK, Ireland, Italy, Australia and New Zealand.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and execute a global procurement strategy focused on biologics, oncology, and other high-cost finished drug products, optimizing costs and ensuring supply security.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives by leveraging the business’s global volumes and negotiating mutually beneficial agreements with large pharmaceutical companies.
- Directly manage a remote, globally distributed procurement team, located in Ireland, the UK, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand, overseeing day-to-day activities while setting a cohesive global strategy.
- Collaborate with regional business leaders in Western Europe and Australia/New Zealand, with KPIs linked to their P&L, as well as with regional operations teams in planning and manufacturing.
- Identify and cultivate long-term supplier relationships that support cost reduction and ensure high standards of quality, ethics, and compliance.
- Establish new operating mechanisms to align the global team, foster collaboration, and drive procurement process improvements.
- Stay informed about global and regional pricing and reimbursement practices, particularly in the UK, EU, Australia, and New Zealand, to inform procurement decisions.
- Monitor and analyze competitive products, market trends, treatment algorithms and regulatory changes to ensure the organization is prepared to adapt to future supply and demand trends.
- Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management, highlighting key initiatives and tracking progress.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field is required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, or related fields, with a focus on procurement finished drug products from large pharmaceutical companies or distributors for pharmacies or health care systems.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating high-value contracts and reducing costs, particularly in the procurement of biologics and oncology drugs.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data to drive decisions.
- Proven experience in managing remote teams across global time zones and developing global strategies that yield regional benefits.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with a focus on aligning cross-functional teams and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of pricing and reimbursement practices in the UK, EU, Australia, and New Zealand.
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality, ethics, and compliance in procurement practices.
