Since March 2024, Chemspeed Technologies AG is part of Bruker Corporation and closely collaborates with Bruker BioSpin. The technology is used in a wide variety of chemical research fields and quality controls. We are seeking an experienced Head of Hardware (m/f/d) to join our engineering leadership team at Chemspeed Technologies, reporting directly to the CTO. This role will lead and oversee multiple engineering teams focused on mechanical and electrical development of our automation solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background combined with first leadership experience to drive innovation and excellence in hardware development.
Responsibilities
Technical Management
- Oversee the complete hardware development lifecycle from concept to production
- Ensure technical excellence and quality in all hardware deliverables
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices, standards, and procedures
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes and methodologies
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to enhance team capabilities
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams
- Manage resource allocation and team structure across hardware projects
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence
- Conduct regular performance reviews and support professional development
- Recruit and retain top engineering talent
Project & Business Management
- Manage hardware development budgets and resource allocation
- Collaborate with product management to define technical requirements and specifications
- Ensure timely delivery of hardware solutions meeting quality standards
- Interface with customers and stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical guidance
- Contribute to business strategy and growth initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree or similar in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in hardware development
- Proven track record of leading complex hardware development projects
- Strong technical background in mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with automation equipment and precision engineering
- Excellence in team leadership and personnel development
- Strong organizational skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
Preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (CE, UL, etc.)
- Experience with international teams and customers
- Additional language skills, particularly German
