Junior Scientist for Gamified Toolbox Development in Baukultur 50%
In line with Empa’s mission, the Technology and Society Laboratory (TSL) creates and shares knowledge to support the transformation to a more sustainable society within planetary boundaries. Within the project "Building Together. Redefining Baukultur through children’s and youths’ perspectives" funded by the National Research Programme (NRP) 81 "Baukultur" you will contribute to the development of a gamified toolbox designed to engage children and youths (ages 6-15) in understanding and shaping local Baukultur.
Your tasks
- Conducting literature and resource reviews to identify innovative methods for engaging young audiences in Baukultur discussions
- Designing and developing a multidisciplinary Baukultur gamified toolbox combining analogue and digital elements in close cooperation with the NGO ARQubator, other partners of the project consortia and external stakeholders
- Coordinating pilot testing of the toolbox in schools and extracurricular settings in Switzerland to validate its effectiveness
- Collecting and analyzing data on children's and youths’ perspectives emerging from the toolbox playtesting sessions and integrating them into further toolbox development
- Co-authoring scientific publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations.
Your profile
Master's degree in architecture, education sciences, social sciences, urban sciences or related fields, with experience or demonstrated interest in participatory approaches and gamification.
Familiarity with qualitative research methods, including data collection, and content analysis.
Strong collaboration, organizational, communication and presentation skills
Knowledge of Adobe computer programmes (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and MS Office (Word and Excell).
Proficiency in English and one additional language German or French (both written and oral).
