Asking the right questions, generating insights, and applying knowledge effectively – you see learning as a strategic tool. You bring analytical precision, methodological expertise, and a strong enthusiasm for evidence-based work.
Fondation Botnar is a philanthropic foundation based in Basel, dedicated to improving the wellbeing of young people in urban and digital spaces worldwide. Our team develops and manages project portfolios in close collaboration with international partners, with evidence-based program design and evaluation playing a central role. We are looking for a committed personality as
Strategic Learning and Evaluation Manager
to join our Strategic Learning & Evaluation (SLE) team. Together, you will shape an innovative, adaptive, and effective learning and evaluation culture. You will support the team in advancing an evidence-based portfolio management practice and contribute to the development of a new evidence management system. Additionally, you will facilitate the collection and use of evidence for decision-making and strategic adaptation, analyze and synthesize insights to understand the foundation’s contribution to change, and develop and advise on monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes for programs and partners. Furthermore, you will represent the foundation in expert circles, bringing fresh ideas and best practices into the organization.
With a master’s degree in an interdisciplinary field or equivalent qualification, along with experience in designing and implementing evaluation and learning approaches for systemic and social change, you possess a solid understanding of various evidence-based decision-making methodologies. You have experience in participatory evaluation, incorporating diverse perspectives, particularly those of young people. Ideally, you have some experience working in low-and-middle-income countries. Strong communication and collaboration skills and excellent English proficiency are essential; German or French is an advantage. Willingness to travel up to 20 percent of the time is required.
We offer an innovative and collaborative work environment, a central location in Basel with modern infrastructure, and flexible working arrangements, including remote work options. Do you feel addressed? Then we look forward to receiving your application. A valid Swiss work permit or EU/EFTA citizenship is required.
