CAD Designer - Mecahnical Designer

Simulands is a Zurich based company that develops medical simulators for training and education, with a focus on devices in the cardiology and cardiac surgery field.

Our range of physical simulators are made of a combination of various advanced materials and manufacturing techniques and replicate the true anatomy of normal or diseased heart and vascular structures. Therefore, our simulators enable training with real devices, usually catheter-based for minimally invasive treatments.

Do you have previous experience in CAD Design using SolidWorks? We are looking for a full time CAD Designer - Mecahnical designer (m/f) who could join our team in Zurich.

Reporting to: Engineering Manager

Knowledge & Previous Experiences: Stong experience with SolidWorks is mandatory, in particular with surface modelling.

Education:  Mechanical Engineering, University of Applied Sciences, Federal Certificate of Competence EFZ or equivalent

Languages: English oral & written. German represents a plus.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, proactive in tackling challenges independently, and capable of managing their responsibilities with minimal supervision. Success in this role requires adaptability to shifting priorities, the ability to stay organized, and a collaborative spirit to contribute effectively within a small, fast-paced Engineering team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks for components, assemblies, and systems in line with project specifications and engineering standards
• Translate engineering concepts, sketches, and requirements into accurate technical documentation and CAD models
• Design and validate mould for silicone injection mouding
• Collaborate closely with our Design team to support product development, prototyping, and optimization
• Prepare and maintain technical drawings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and supporting documentation for production and assembly
• Revise and update designs based on testing results, feedback, or design changes
• Ensure all CAD data is stored and managed properly within our systems
• Support engineering projects throughout the full product lifecycle — from concept through to final release
• Assist in design reviews by providing visualizations and technical input
• Maintain design consistency and ensure compliance with industry standards, internal guidelines, and manufacturing constraints
• Participate in cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, R&D, Design and Quality Teams when needed
