We are welcoming applications for a Senior Lecturer (Maître Assistant) position at 100% for 2 years in the Mathematics Department.
The successful candidate will conduct research in the field of complex and symbolic dynamics, group theory, decision problems and computation, under the supervision of Professor Laurent Bartholdi, as part of the Advanced Grant "Automata, dynamics and actions" of the SNSF.
The candidate will also take part in the department’s teaching activities as an assistant. Their main duties will be teaching exercises sessions and grading exams.
Summary of research project
This project is a 5-year endeavour in pure mathematics. It lies at the nexus of complex and symbolic dynamics, group theory, decision problems and computation. It aims to solve major problems in each of these fields by means of automatic actions and relations.
The candidate must be competent in both automata theory, symbolic dynamics (and in particular substitutional subshifts) and group theory.

The Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva is recognized worldwide for the excellence of its research in the fields of mathematical physics and probability/ statistics and offers a stimulating environment for scientific work in these fields.We are welcoming applications for a Senior Lecturer (Maître Assistant) position at 100% for 2 years in the Mathematics Department.

Titre et compétences exigés
The candidate must have a PhD in mathematics, preferably in fields such as Combinatorics, group theory, metric geometry, combinatorics on words with applications, symbolic dynamics, decidability.The candidate must be competent in both automata theory, symbolic dynamics (and in particular substitutional subshifts) and group theory.
