The Position
202412-131091 Junior PAT Expert (Process Analytical Technology) – 3 year temporary position

Within “Synthetic Molecules Technical Development” our Process Analytical Technology (PAT) group is responsible for the implementation of PAT tools to support a fast and effective drug substance and drug product process development of our pipeline projects. We are also developing and validating PAT procedures for Real Time Release Testing (RTRT) and support novel technology platforms (e.g. continuous manufacturing) with dedicated PAT solutions.

The Opportunity
As Junior PAT Expert, you will support the development, validation and implementation of PAT in R&D, clinical and commercial manufacturing. You will report to the Head of Process Analytical Technology.
Main responsibilities are (with support from Senior PAT experts):

Development of qualitative and quantitative chemometric models

Hands-on setup of PAT tools in laboratory and production

Running experiments in the team or independently

Validation of PAT methods & GMP compliance

Authoring of development & validation reports, SOPs and regulatory documents
Who you are
As the ideal candidate, you will either hold a PhD in Natural Sciences or Engineering. Alternatively you own a MSc degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering in combination with 1-3 years professional experience. You are expected to bring the following skillset:

Expertise in spectroscopy (e.g. NIR, IR, Raman) and analytical techniques for on-line process monitoring (e.g. NMR, online LC)

Hands-on laboratory experience, specifically in performing PAT measurements (at-line, on-line, in-line)

Data & modeling skills (e.g. chemometric modeling, multivariate data analysis)

Matlab/Python/R/C++ programming skills & high affinity to digital tools

Excellent communication skills in English and /or German (ideally both)

High level of motivation and ability to implement pragmatic solutions
Additional skills or experience in the following areas are a plus:

Data science, data engineering

Process automation

Continuous manufacturing

Small molecule, peptide or oligonucleotide process knowledge

Knowledge/expertise in GMP and regulatory guidelines
