Position Overview
The Experience Design Intern will help support the creation of experiences that will bring the User Experience (UX) strategy and vision for products that Exact Sciences is building to life. They will collaborate with diverse teams, including Designers, Copywriters, Content Strategists, Product partners, Marketing, Business Unit, Internal users and Development partners. They’ll support efforts in digital, marketing, and product design, emphasizing interaction design and visual design.
This internship is based out of our Madison, WI office location and is for Summer 2025.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collaborate with strategists, researchers, product leaders, legal, regulatory, medical, labs, and the respective Experience Design team members to produce deliverables (e.g., wireframes, visual systems, interaction models, design specs, copy, etc.) for the user experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Advocate for the incorporation of user research into the experience
- Develop skills in all things design
- Determine what is needed to create accessible, inclusive, and equitable designs
- Simplify and communicate complex ideas to broad audiences
- Research and stay up-to-date with UX best practices, standards, principles, and design thinking processes, and put them into practice as part of the UX team
- Use design thinking, storytelling, and conceptual prototypes to compellingly convey the vision, flow, and features of the products/services being designed
- Experience with problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills with the ability to execute against a UX strategy based on research, data, and industry trends.
- Understanding of human centered design and design thinking methodologies.

- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for approximately less than 1% of a typical working day
- Ability to work seated for approximately 90-100% of a typical working day. Ability to work while standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day
- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day
- Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height
- Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously
- Ability to use a telephone through a headset
- Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements
- Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment toward a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, or related field of study.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software Suite
- Experience with Figma, Miro, Adobe Creative Suite applications, and a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Salary Range:
$34,000.00 - $54,000.00The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis.
