1. MSL Strategic Synergy and Oversee
• Guide the MSLs to develop regional medical plan based on competitor intelligence, academic needs, market situation and provincial policy to meet TA unmet regional needs, synergy into an overall MSL strategy in the national level.
• Review the budget proposal from MSLs, co-work with TA head to balance the resource allocating cross the region
• Ensure KOLs list and engagement plan by MSLs are appropriate addressed and accurately executed.
• Co-visit with MSLs to provide coaching and feedback on a regular basis, support MSLs to build and maintain the long-term scientific collaboration relationship with KOLs in relevant TA.
• Review the KOLs visit report by MSLs, record co-visit report and insight collection by appropriate system, like VEEVA CRM, MEDIsource system.
• Lead MSL to share medical insights from KOLs with internal stakeholders in a timely and consistent manner.
• Responsible for coordinating cross regional medical projects, by overall management and work assigning.
• Support MSLs to identify KOL’s research capability & interesting area and the feasibility of IISR possibility with Takeda, receive unsolicited investigator initiated sponsored studies (IISR) requests which fit for medical strategy, escalate for MA’s review if appropriate
• Support MSLs to work with internal stakeholders appropriately, including other medical affairs function, commercial colleagues(e.g. Sales, Marketing, etc.), SFE(training, etc.),Compliance, Clinical Development, and Market Access, to ensure achieve medical plan goal.
• Ensure the compliance of the overall MSLs team, fair and balanced information on the benefits and risks of Takeda products, therapeutic options, and the disease state in Takeda are delivered in regional medical activities.
2. People Management
• Identify the gaps between regional medical needs and human resources settings, co -work with TA Head to allocate the appropriate MSL HC settings with reasonable rationale.
• Recruit the right candidates who fulfill competency model of Takeda Medical, to build up and maintain the whole MSL team, minimize the turnover rate.
• Guide and coach new MSLs in their probation period to ensure onboarding steady and smoothly.
• Lead and guide MSL team to achieve success, by clearly KPI settings, consulting and supporting for specific medical projects as needed, periodically performance review and feedback.
• Guide MSLs to establish and execute Individual Development Plan (IDP) based on Takeda Medical competency model, give feedback and coach to strengthen their capability, opportunities seeking and design for their career development.
• Co-work with medical excellence function, to design and/or optimize proper MSL working process, to support MSLs work productivity and consistent with relevant SOP & policy.
• Co-work with TA head to build the MSLs information exchange platform, and shape a positive and compliance culture within TA medical.
3. Others
• May acting as MSL role in specific region according business needs.
• Additional scope of responsibilities and other therapeutic areas may apply if assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications & Skills:
Level of Education Medical or Pharmacist master degree is required
Working Experience in Relevant Field
• Either ≥3 years medical affairs experience in pharmaceutical company; or ≥ 1 year people manager experience in pharmaceutical company.
• [For senior MSL Manager, ≥ 3 yrs medical affairs people Manager experience with a track record of success in pharmaceutical company are required]
• Clinical practicing experiences within relevant TAs are preferred.
Professional Knowledge and Skills
• Good knowledge of relevant TAs knowledge in general.
• Fundamental knowledge of clinical study methodology.
• Customer focus with excellent communication and influencing skills that can impact at national level
• Interpersonal skills and strong leadership and motivation skills to lead and coach a team of MSLs and work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to build and maintain a strong network of effective scientific relationships with stakeholders and maintain an understanding for HCPs, to achieve trusted advisor status.
• Highly medical project management skills to deliver on complex tasks within timeframe and milestones.
• Innovative sense and willing to drive a complex and changing environment and effectively manage and resolve issues from medical perspective.
• Awareness of and adherence to the company company’s credo and compliance requirement.
• Fluent in both written and spoken business and academic English.
Travel Requirements:
• MSL manager is a half office based and half field based role. The successful candidate is also expected to travel during the holidays as required by the business need.
