In this exciting new role as Global Environmental Manager for our Service Business Unit (BU), You will be part of a worldwide HSE and Sustainability community of Hitachi Energy that oversees and develops strategies to ensure safe working conditions as well as environmental protection and be part of the BU Service.
This role will report to the Global Business Unit Head of HSE and Sustainability and will be part of the Service Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing environmental programs for the BU Service, in line with the Sustainability strategy and roadmap.
You’ll provide operational direction and support to contribute to environmental performance, including env. compliance, SF6 management, energy and resources efficiency, hazardous substance reduction, and pollution prevention measures in BU Service.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction in the BU, bringing rigor through operational discipline, in line with the Service BU strategy
- Execute Environmental plan and ensure full compliance with Hitachi Energy’s HSE and legal requirements.
- Drive operational excellence by ensuring the implementation of company programs and Service’s operational environmental risk management.
- Support the HSE and Sustainability functions to advance the environmental performance of our Company
- Risk evaluation of processes involving chemical usage, determining risk severity and making recommendations for risk mitigation
- Provide operational guidance develops and maintain SF6, waste, water, hazardous substance and pollution prevention management system standards and programs in accordance with ISO14001 / 50001
- Support incident definition, categorization, and investigation for environmental sustainability areas of expertise
- Drive the environmental reporting, review environmental performance, identify issues, and develop specific improvement solutions
- Act as a change management agent, serving as the Technical Authority for the BU
- Communicate and promote environmental performance
- Ability to travel for periodic site visits.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in environmental sustainability in an international environment
- Formal education or experience in environment, and operational chemical management at a regional or global level
- Proven experience in a senior HSE leadership role
- Strong working knowledge regarding regulations, principles, practices, procedures, etc. pertaining to energy, waste, water and chemical management / pollution prevention in industry
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution regarding environmental initiatives
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization
- Strong ability comprehends, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to effectively present information.
- Skills in identifying environmental exposures and developing processes to limit such exposure
- Ability to train others in risk mitigation strategies and communication
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with many stakeholders
