Full-time staff position subject to a 3-month probationary period

About Seprify AG

We transform cellulose, the earth's most abundant biopolymer, into high-performance ingredients. Our flagship innovation is a unique light-scattering material, a natural pigment with 100% natural composition. In this role you will be part of a small team, led by a Chemical Engineer responsible for the operation of the Pilot Line. Your professional growth will be assessed by the CTO, who is responsible for coordinating activities between the R&D team and the Process Production team.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Routinely operate our Pilot Line facility, which includes state-of-the-art reactors, tanks, heating/cooling systems, mechanical processing equipment, and drying units,
  • Be a trusted safety associate, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures at Seprify’s operations. Ensure safety procedures are meticulously followed in the pilot plant,
  • Be able to operate and modify as needed automated batch units of the production process,
  • Order chemicals and consumables on a routine basis,
  • Provide maintenance to existing equipment as needed, or contact suitable technical services of the manufacturers,
  • Assist in performing routine material characterization, for instance: pH and turbidity measurements, particle size and solid content,
  • Interact with external contractors (e.g., pipefitting, automation, etc.),
  • Closely interact with the Process R&D Team at Seprify.

Your Profile:

  • A graduate university degree (MSc/BEng) in Chemical/Process Engineering or Food Processing,
  • Familiarity or experience in operating pilot-scale equipment (reactors, chemical recycling and waste, washing, drying),
  • Have extensive safety knowledge handling acids, bases, solvents at high concentrations, and conducting reactions at large scales,
  • An innovative mindset with a passion for industrial process design and engineering,
  • Ability and experience to work under pressure to meet deadlines,
  • A team player, self-motivated, curious, resilient, adaptable, and able to handle the fast pace of a Startup while being focused on assigned tasks,
  • A positive attitude and openness to learn and engage in constructive discussions,
  • Knowledge and experience in mechanical and/or biomass processing can be an asset.

Your Benefits:

  • Hands-on process engineering design and execution experience of a new commercial development in an award-winning Swiss Startup company,
  • A major project with responsibility in chemical process design, implementation and execution,
  • A permanent position with growth opportunities in the chemical engineering sector,
  • Working on an impact driven chemical production strategy,
  • A topic which receives strong attention in society and economy,
  • An interdisciplinary team and environment that allows broadening your knowledge and skills,
  • The opportunity to be part of an entrepreneurial journey from process development to commercialization.
