The AI in Medical Imaging (AIMI) group at the ARTORG Center, University of Bern, is seeking a candidate to help extend and customize the Medical Division Neuro (Medizinbereich Neuro, MB-Neuro) software solution to meet AIMI's specific needs. This work focuses on enhancing medical imaging and artificial intelligence applications in ophthalmology.
About AIMI
AIMI collaborates with the Eye Clinic at Inselspital, Bern, to create AI-driven solutions for ophthalmological research and clinical use. Our main goals include:

  • Ensuring data anonymization and compliance with data privacy rules.
  • Implementing AI tools for processing ophthalmology data.
  • Developing and improving systems for data analysis.

About MB Neuro

The Neurocenter's Informatics Group (NCI Group) leads research-focused informatics efforts for the Medical Division Neuro, playing a key role in implementing the Insel Group's digitization strategy. The group designs and develops data-driven platforms and tools to support the research activities of the Neurocenter, including its Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuroradiology clinics, while also collaborating with and providing support to other clinics across Inselspital. In addition, the NCI Group works closely with the Insel Data Science Center (IDSC) to ensure full compliance with the technical and legal requirements of Inselspital.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the performance of the MB-Neuro platform
  • Design and implement software APIs, and work with application scientists to optimize software interfaces and pipelines.
  • Connect the core clinical dataset with expert-annotated and raw imaging data, laboratory data including biobanking, and biosignals
  • A minimum three-year commitment is strongly encouraged

Your profile

  • Minimum a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or higher education degree (university, university of applied sciences) in computer science or software development.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript, C or C++ (minimum 1 year working experience).
  • Knowledge in Linux OS, version control applications (GIT) and bash scripting
  • Experience in SQL databases (PostgreSQL and MySQL)
  • Experience in Python programming
  • Fluency in English; German is a plus

Experience with some of the following topics is also a plus:
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization (D3.js, Three.js, WebGL)
  • Experience in Front/Back-end development ReactJS, NodeJS
  • Experience in UI/UX design with OpenGL and Qt
  • Experience with Java programming,
  • Experience with XNAT, RedCAP, HL7, FHIR, DICOM standard
