swisspeace is a practice and research institute dedicated to advancing effective peacebuilding. It supports and advises local, national, and international actors relevant for peacebuilding, researches topics particularly relevant for peacebuilding practice, provides spaces for exchange and dialogue, and shapes peace policy in Switzerland and globally. swisspeace is an associated institute of the University of Basel.
To reinforce its KOFF Platform coordination team swisspeace is looking for an:
Associate Program Officer - Swiss Peacebuilding Platform (KOFF) (80%)
Starting date: 01 May 2025 (or by agreement)
Contract duration: 2 years
The Associate Program Officer will be part of the Peacebuilding Analysis & Impact (PAI) team which hosts the coordination team of the Swiss platform for peacebuilding KOFF. The platform for exchange, networking, and joint learning brings together more than 40 civil society and two governmental organizations from Switzerland active in the areas of peace and security policy, human rights, and gender equality. The platform is coordinated by a dedicated team of three colleagues and jointly financed by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (Peace and Human Rights Division) and the KOFF member organizations.
Your position
- Support with the planning and organization of different exchange and learning formats of KOFF (e.g., roundtables, annual assembly) and ensure smooth logistics on-site.
- Act as a key liaison for KOFF platform members, swisspeace, event participants, and other stakeholders, managing inquiries in consultation with the KOFF coordinator.
- Assist with translations and editing for KOFF publications, such as the KOFF magazine "à propos", and create content for KOFF’s social media channels (X and LinkedIn).
- Document the activities of the KOFF platform (e.g., minutes, and synthesis reports of events) and contribute to improving internal processes.
- Support the Peacebuilding Analysis & Impact team in different activities.
Your profile
- Initial professional experience in a (Swiss) civil society organization or the public administration in the realms of peacebuilding, human rights, gender, development cooperation, or similar fields.
- Masters’ degree in a relevant discipline (international relations, political sciences, social sciences, or similar disciplines) and a strong interest in peace policy and human rights issues.
- Excellent communication skills in German or French (native level), with very good knowledge of the other language, as well as English.
- Proven ability and a flair to coordinate events, meetings, and projects with minimal supervision, taking responsibility for both organizational details and content.
- Flexible, well-organized, as well as with an eye for details and an ability to prioritise.
- Open-minded, proactive, and enjoying the collaboration and exchange with diverse stakeholders.
