Job Description
For our headquarters in Muzzano, we are looking for a Laser Optical Engineer (100%), who will be responsible for the development and production of new machines and production setups, specifically taking on the technical responsibility for the optical and laser sections of the machines.
Job Description
She/He will be responsible for the following activities:
- Executes the direct activities of design, development, construction/assembly, testing, and commissioning of new manufacturing platforms, specifically taking on technical responsibility for the optical and laser source sections
- Designs and leads performance and characterization tests of manufacturing and measurement platforms
- Collaborates in the management, implementation and verification of the functional requirements of the manufacturing and measurement platforms, particularly of those related to laser/optical performance
- Works with strategic partners responsible for the design, development, and supply of new production platforms, or their laser and optical subsystems, as well as the testing equipment
- Contributes to the manufacturing process research activities in the laboratory and within the framework of community projects (Innosuisse, EU, etc.)
- Collaborates to the activities of Design for Manufacturing of optical components
- Contributes to the installation, service, and maintenance management of machines and measurement tools in production and at customer sites
- Trains and supports internal production operators and customers worldwide in the use of manufacturing platforms
- Contributes to the CE certification of products
- Contributes to the drafting of scientific articles and patents
She/He will report to the Head of Systems Department.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Degree in Physics, Engineering with optics specialization or equivalent scientific disciplines
- Sound knowledge of optics principles and optical system design
- Specific knowledge of laser beam manipulation is considered a plus
- Excellent language skills in English, both written and oral
- French is considered a plus
- Italian basic skill is a useful plus
Experience and Knowledge
- Sound experience in research and development for companies operating in the technical/industrial and academic fields, preferably focused on laser applications
- Knowledge of technical development software tools (e.g., LightTools, Zemax, CodeV…) and 3D modelling (Invetor, Solidworks…)
- Familiarity with SW tools for project/activity planning and management (e.g., Jira, MS Project...)
- Elements of Projects Management and familiarity with Quality Systems methods
