Sustainability Project Manager (100%) – 2-year temporary contract

Role

make an impact? ISO is seeking a proactive Sustainability Project Manager to

lead initiatives that align with and advance our ambitious sustainability

objectives. This is an exciting opportunity for a culturally curious,

action-driven individual eager to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and

teams to make sustainability a reality. Knowledge or interest in diversity and

inclusion (D&I) issues alongside environmental sustainability will be

highly valued.

ISO’s sustainability

efforts are centered on two key pillars that support the ISO Strategy 2030:

Environmental Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion. The Sustainability

Project Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing ISO’s sustainability

priorities by effectively managing ongoing projects. Aligned with ISO’s vision

to increase its impact on sustainability issues and its mission to drive

transformative practices, this role ensures that each project’s scope and

direction contribute meaningfully to ISO’s objectives and global sustainability

goals. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful

delivery of projects, meeting timelines, staying within budget, and achieving

the desired outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Proactive Collaboration and Problem Solving

  • Work

closely with the Sustainability Programme Manager and team members to coordinate efforts across departments and maximize

impact.

  • Actively

engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify dependencies,

address challenges, and ensure smooth implementation.

  • Provide actionable recommendations to overcome barriers, optimize resources, and enhance sustainability outcomes.

Results-Oriented Project Delivery

  • Define

project goals, outcomes, and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring

alignment with ISO’s sustainability objectives.

  • Develop

clear, actionable plans, including identifying resources, risks, and

solutions to deliver measurable results.

  • Stay

focused on achieving project outcomes, adapting plans as conditions evolve

to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

  • Maintain

a continuous feedback loop to assess impact, adjust activities, and ensure

alignment with stakeholders' expectations.

Innovation and Strategic Growth

  • Identify and propose new opportunities to expand ISO’s sustainability work, particularly in emerging areas of environmental, social, and D&I impact.
  • Support the

integration of sustainability and D&I principles across the organization

through creative initiatives and tailored solutions.

Communication and Reporting

  • Regularly

update stakeholders on progress, challenges, and outcomes using clear,

results-oriented reporting.

  • Craft concise,

compelling communications to build awareness, engagement, and alignment around

sustainability goals

Report to: Head

of Sustainability & Partnerships

Qualification and Experience

Sustainability background

  • At least 2 years of experience addressing environmental and social sustainability challenges.
  • Familiarity with the UN SDGs and key multilateral processes linked to sustainability, such as UNFCCC COPs.
  • Strong understanding

of the global sustainability landscape, including emerging trends and issues

across environmental and social dimensions.

Project

management

  • Proven experience as project manager (between 3 and 5 years) or relevant position directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Knowledge of results-based management is an asset.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Capable of being detail-oriented, while also keeping broader objectives in sight.
  • Proficiency in one or more project management tools is an

asset.

Education

and Communication Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sustainable Development, Environmental Studies/Policy, Management, Social Sciences, International Relations).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and influence diverse audiences.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.

Collaboration

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural settings, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and roles.
  • Skilled at managing diverse perspectives while keeping teams focused on shared objectives.
