What you'll do
Viasat is looking for an onsite Quality Inspector to primarily support a facility in Newark, NY. As a Quality Inspector, you will be a key member of our quality assurance team, embedded at our supplier facilities. In this position, you will have the flexibility to work on an on-call as-needed basis. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Performing thorough inspections of products before they are shipped to our customers.
- Identifying any defects or issues with the products and working with the supplier/product quality engineer to resolve them.
- Ensuring all products meet our rigorous quality standards.
- Documenting your inspection findings and collaborating with the broader quality team.
- Serving as the final checkpoint to prevent the shipment of any substandard products to our customers.
This is a critical role in our quality control process, as your work will directly impact customer satisfaction and the reputation of our brand. We are looking for detail-oriented individuals who take pride in delivering high-quality work and collaborating closely with our supplier partners.
The day-to-day
The Quality inspector will perform source inspection on In-process and Final PWAs, cable assemblies and "Box Builds" by interpreting BOMs, drawings, engineering specifications, workmanship per IPC610 and inspection instructions as well as performing IPC610 workmanship inspections on PWAs, “Box Builds” and cable assemblies using a Mantis scope. You’ll be using Agile as the configuration tool and Oracle for Inspection results reporting. Good written, verbal, communication, and computer skills are essential.
What you'll need
- 2+ years of inspection experience with PWAs and Box builds. Some cable inspection experience is a plus.
- Must be familiar with BOMs, drawings and other specifications.
- You’ll be required to check hardware/cable installation per drawing
- Complete First Article inspection as required
- Ability to finalize Quality reporting in Oracle
- Ability to review Purchase Order for Quality Provisions/Requirements including Supplier CofC and Reach/ROHS requirements
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to include business-level proficiency in English
- IPC Certification or ability to obtain certification
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability for up to 10% travel

Salary range
$21.11 - $30 / hourly.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $26.25 - $35.43/ hourly
