The Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) team within Sensor & Cartridge (S&C) Operations is supporting the manufacturing processes and the quality control of Roche Blood Gas and Electrolyte (BG&E) Sensors and Reagents used in BG&E systems (for example, cobas b123 blood gas system).
Roche Blood Gas and Electrolyte (BG&E) systems are first frontier diagnostics systems, which deliver fast and reliable results in situations critical to the patient's welfare:

We are responsible for improvements of the product quality and reduction of the manufacturing costs. We act as scientific support for the running production and establish control loops for identified critical process parameters to ensure stable production. We are a dynamic, interdisciplinary team with diverse backgrounds in engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, etc.
We are looking for a highly motivated intern to support our projects within the production of sensors and reagents. As an intern, you will directly contribute to a project that develops the next-generation of BG&E system.
This internship position is located in Rotkreuz, Switzerland.
You will be part of a project team that transfers a production process from RnD to routine production.
Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Process Monitoring: Perform data analysis and monitor production processes, identify potential areas for process improvement, and support continuous optimization efforts.

Contribute to Specification Development: Assist in the development and refinement of process specifications to ensure they meet both production requirements and quality standards.

Document management: Support the creation and management of GxP-compliant documents, such as manufacturing and QC process documentation and work instructions, in both paper-based and electronic formats, with a future focus on integrating sustainability into documentation practices.

Risk analysis: Conduct and support risk analyses (pFMEA) to identify and mitigate process risks, ensuring alignment with quality and safety standards in GxP production.

Change management: Manage and support change management processes, ensuring that all changes are documented, reviewed, and implemented according to regulatory and audit requirements.

Knowledge Documentation: Ensure that knowledge from projects is documented as wiki articles for know-how retention and kept up to date.
Who You Are
You are enrolled or have completed your Bachelor’s or Master’s studies, preferably in the field of life sciences, natural science, chemistry, process engineering, biotechnology, applied informatics, or a related field after February 2024, and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship.

You have an eye for details and value precise documentation in alignment with current GDP/GMP (Good Documentation & Manufacturing Practice) guidelines. You are aware that the highly regulated environment of the medical sector requires management processes such as Change Management in order to stay compliant and do not find this formal aspect of the work boring.

You are proficient in both English and German
Technical details:
The start date for the internship is March 2025 with a duration of 6-12 months.
Part-time employment is possible (min. 80% FTE)
If required, it is possible to write a thesis during the internship.
The application deadline is November 11th. Interviews will take place in late November and early December.
